Traveling to York and looking for hotels that have entertainment? You’ll be happy to hear York has a selection of hotels that offer a range of entertainment. Such as live sports screenings and live music. But you’re probably wondering which ones are the best, and meet your travel requirements?

As someone who visits York regularly I am always looking for hotels that offer good entertainment, especially live music. Over the years I’ve stayed at many of York’s hotels, and put together this list of what I believe to be the best hotels in York that offer entertainment.

Map of The Best YorK Hotels with Entertainment

Use the map below to quickly check where these hotels are located. This will help you decide which one is best located for you. York is quite a small city and is easily walkable, so many of these hotels are only a few minutes walk from some of York’s best attractions.

Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel

The Mecure York Farfield Manor Hotel is a four star hotel that is located in an 18th-century Georgian manor house. The hotel has beauitful gardens, that you can enjoy exploring, or just relaxing in. Pets are allowed at the Mecure York Farfield Manor Hotel so if you’re traveling with a furry friend, I recommend considering stay here. The hotel is also family friendly, with family rooms available.

Location: The hotel is located on the outskirts of York, about 6km from York railway station and only a 10 minute drive frm the city centre. So it isn’t far but if you stay here you will need a car or to use public transport.

Entertainment: When it comes to entertainment, the Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including live music, tribute nights, and party nights. These events don’t require you to stay in the hotel but for the best experience, I recommend booking the room + event tickets.

The rooms: They have a range of hotel rooms available, including doubles, twins, family rooms, and singles. All the hotel rooms all come with free WiFi, free toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities, a private bathroom and a TV. If you upgrade to the priviledge room or superior suite you’ll get a Nespresso coffee machine and robe + slippers.

Amentities: The hotel has a range of amentities including a bar & restaurant that serves breakfast, dinner and lunch. They have a 24 hour reception, daily housekeeping and free parking available. You also get free access to the Roko Health Club which gives you access to two swimming pools, a sauna, steam room, hydro spa and a gym. The health club is a 1.5 mile drive from the hotel.

The Bootham Tavern

The Bootham Tavern is a traditional British pub and highly-rated hotel located in York. The hotel rooms each have a different theme, such as York Minster plus they’re super comfy and they serve a really good breakfast. But just a warning; the hotels’ entertainment can be loud enough to reach the rooms above the bar. If you’re here for the entertainment this shouldn’t really be of bother to you though.

Location: The hotel is located just two minutes from York city center in Bootham. If you stay here you’ll be close to many of York’s sights including York Minster, Deans Park, York’s Chocolate Story and the Jorvik Viking Centre. It’s one of the best located hotels that offer live entertainment. The tavern is one of my faveorite places to stay when it comes to ease of access to York city centre + enjoying a pint whilst watching a live band.

Entertainment: The tavern hosts live screenings of the Premier League football matches so I recommend staying here if you’d like to watch the football. They also hold poker nights every Tuesday and a range of live music events showing local artists, Blues Nights, and Karaoke.

The Rooms: Each room is decorated around a different York attraction, and each has an en-suite bathroom. There’s free WiFi + a tea/coffee maker in the room.

Amentities: The pub serves a great selection of ales, ciders, spirits etc as well as good food. I highly recommend enjoying a pint or two in the pub. There is a private entrance for hotel guests, so you can avoid the pub if you prefer. The hotel doesn’t have a lift, so upper floors are only accessible by stairs.

The Golden Fleece York

The Golden Fleece is not only one of the best places to stay if you’re looking for live entertainment, but it’s also full of history. The pub is one of the oldest in York, with records dating back to 1503 and it’s managed to maintain it’s historical character. Plus it’s said to be haunted.

The pub’s been featured on the Most Haunted TV Series and is frequently visited by some of York’s best ghost tours. So if you’re also interested in the paranormal, I highly recommend staying here. Plus the rooms are comfy.

Location: The hotel is located in York City Centre, just across from the Shambles which is one of the best places to visit in York. The Shambles is full of fun shops such as The York Ghost Merchents, and The Shop That Must Not Be Named (which is a must for Harry Potter fans). You’ll also be near many other attractions such as the Jorvik Viking Centre, the DIG archaeology museum (great for kids) and Fairfax House.

Entertainment: They host regular live music events in the evenings, so why not head down to the pub and enjoy the music with a pint of beer?

The Rooms: The hotel rooms in the Golden Fleece have been decorated in keeping with its historical character. Whenever I stay here, I almost feel like I’ve been transported back in time. The rooms are comfortable, and they’re always super clean. The rooms have private bathrooms, which are really spacious. If you want a more luxurious stay, I recommend upgrading to the Deluxe Room as the bath is amazing. All rooms come with a coffee/tea maker, Free WiFi, a TV and free toiletries.

Amentities: The hotel features a quaint little pub that offers a range of local cask and fantastic draught products. They also serve a really good English Breakfast, which can be added onto your booking.

Middletons

Middletons is a beautiful hotel, that is made up of six different historical buildings. The oldest dates back to the 17th century, and most of the others date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Each building has their own unique history and tale to tell. Middletons is dog-friendly, they have a dog-friendly double room available so you could consider staying here if you’re traveling with your four-legged friend. Middletons also has an accessible room, making it one of the only accessible hotels in York that offer entertainment.

Location: Middletons is located a bit further out of the city centre, just across the River Ouse in a quieter residental area. This offers you the chance to escape the cities busy streets and relax after a day of exploring. While you’re further away from the centre, you’ll still be staying within walking distance of the city walls, and within walking distance of Tower Gardens, Clifford’s Tower and York Castle Museum.

Entertainment: Middletons has live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. You can enjoy live acts while enjoying your favorite drinks. It’s an excellent way to unwind after a long day of exploring the city.

The Rooms: They have a range of room sizes including single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms plus and a double/twin accessibe room. The accessible room has a wet room, and are located on the ground floor so do you won’t have to worry about the stairs. Each room has free WiFi, tea/coffee maker, and a TV. The hotel also has one dog-friendly room.

Amentities: The hotel restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. I highly recommend trying their afternoon tea at least once during your stay as it is one of the best afternoon teas in York. They also offer Sunday Lunch which is a roast dinner with a range of meats, and vegetarian options available. There’s also a sun lounge, and outdoor dining area for you to enjoy during your stay. The hotel has a car park but this isn’t free, you’ll need to pay £12.50 a day to use the car park.

The Grand, York

If you’re looking for a luxurious hotel with entertainment in York, The Grand is definitely worth considering. As the only 5-star hotel in York, it offers impeccable service and a range of amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel is located in a Grade II building that was once a Victorian railway headquarters, so not only will you be able to enjoy some live entertainment but you’ll also get a taste of York’s history when staying here.

The Rooms: The hotel rooms are amazing, they’re spacious, comfy, and the beds are fitted with Egyptian cotton sheets.
